Gym bag essentials

When heading to the gym, there are some essential items you need to toss  into your gym bag. Without these things, you can be left thirsty, with blisters, or with some serious body odor. People who neglect these gym must-haves soon realize their importance. So before you head to the gym, make sure you bring these essentials with you for a great workout experience.

Water Bottle

Water bottles are a must-have no matter where you go. You must keep yourself well hydrated all the time, especially when exerting yourself. Some people even carry water bottles with them when they are out shopping. You don’t want to get caught at the gym if their water fountains are out of order. When you work out, your body loses a lot of water with salt. To overcome this deficiency, you must drink water. Try to buy a durable water bottle that is BPA free so you’re not buying and tossing plastic water bottles.

Extra Clothes and Sneakers

You are probably not going to exercise in the clothes that you wore from home. Gym clothes should be flexible and loose so you can move your body easily. The clothes you normally wear would act as a barrier. Therefore, do not for get to bring shorts or Lycra pants, an extra T-shirt, extra socks and sneakers to work out. Make sure you have clean socks to change into after your workout and shower. Make sure your shoes are appropriate for running if you’re going to be on the treadmill. You don’t want to twist an ankle because you’re not wearing proper footwear.

Toiletries

So you just had a sweaty workout and you head for the showers.

Make sure you bring shampoo, soap, and deodorant.  Don’t forget a comb or hairbrush and any styling products you normally use.  Flip flops are a must as the locker room breeds bacteria and floor may not be the cleanest.

For your face, you are probably going to need a face wash and face wipes. And bring your own towels—one to wipe away the sweat as you work out and another one to dry off after your shower.

Snack

You can build up quite an appetite when working out, and you don’t want to undo all of your hard work with a burger and fries.  So bring something light that is packed with protein to provide energy to hold you over until you can put together that nice big salad. Energy bars come in all flavors like chocolate and fruit and nut. Dates are also a great snack. Be prepared so you don’t end up eating the wrong foods.

Keep yourself entertained

Bring an Mp3 player to listen to your favorite jams while exercising.  Choose some fast-paced songs to pump yourself up during that work out and play your favorites that inspire and motivate.  Don’t forget those ear buds to keep your hands free.

First Aid

It’s always best to keep a simple first aid kit with you for those minor cuts and scrapes. You want to apply antibiotic ointments to cuts before you put on the bandage to ward off any possible infection. Also, it’s always good to have pain relief pills for headaches and aches and pains. Some bio freeze can also relieve minor pains so that your workout doesn’t get interrupted.

Miscellaneous

Make sure that you have two or three plastic bags with you. There are so many uses for resealable plastic storage bags, like storing your dirty and sweaty clothes. Compact micro fiber towels are also one of the things that you should keep on you. . Do not forget the most important thing: your  keys, wallet and mobile phone. These should be always with you wherever you go. You should also keep the phone charger with you in case your phone runs lows on juice. Headbands are also helpful for people with long hair to you’re your hair out of your eyes. So pack your things with these gym bag essentials to have a great workout experience.
